Ansonia was probably the most revered clock
company in the U.S., and is the most loved by collectors.
They made quality wall and mantle clocks but
had a difficult time producing clocks that could compete
with Westclox
and others in the alarm clock market.
The answer for them in the 1920s was the "Square Pirate"
model with
advertising on the dial.
This clock advertises "Star Brand Shoes".
The
clock is 4 1/4' tall.
Made in
the USA
This
clock was manufactured circa 1920
CONDITION of the
clock:
The movement has been serviced and it runs
and alarms as it should.
The original dial and case show a wonderful
patina. (see pics)
When we found this clock, it had been fitted
with a mis-shapened glass that deformed the case slightly.
(see pictures). We replaced the glass with an
appropriate fitting piece, but could not correct the slight
deformation in the case for fear of causing damage. Oh
well, the stories this clock could tell? A great piece
of Americana.
One year warranty.
Price $205.00
